Artwork Details:
Precipitation falls as snow when the temperature from the cloud base to the ground is at or below 32°F, preventing the precipitation from melting. Water vapor in the clouds condenses directly into ice without becoming a liquid first period snowflakes are made-up of ice crystals that stick together as they fall. The first snow can serve as an important insulator for soil and plants. This collage is of a snowshoe hare enjoying the last available green plants as the first snowfall of the season lands around her. This is the December image found in my 2025 wall calendar. Although it works as a stand-alone image, each design in this collection was created to tell part of a story of how the water on our planet connects us all. This piece incorporates hidden words like, “snowflake,” “bright,” “cycle,” “first snow,” and “natural.”
