Shroomin'!

Folks, I've been seriously inspired by mushrooms lately! I know what you're thinking. No, not those kind of mushrooms. ;-) I've been working in the studio on lots of fall/winter themed collections. And I often turn to nature for inspiration. So we've taken several family hikes in the woods recently. And holy smokes - talk about 'shrooms! If you've ever been to a forest in the Pacific Northwest in the fall, you know what I'm talking about. Mushrooms of every shape, size and color imaginable are everywhere. Once you get your eyes tuned in to see them, you litterally can't take a step without spotting dozens more! So of course, I had to document our findings for future art reference... and a fun exercise to remind myself once again how amazing, diverse and downright magical our earth is. You just have to slow down enough to notice.

Here are just a few of the fascinating mushrooms we spotted...

Nothing like some amazing nature photos to get you inspired, eh?

And of course, little man got in on the mushroom hunt too. He spotted these very rare "bolt" mushrooms growing on a picnic table we came across. He insisted that I photograph them like I had all the others. ;-)

I love playing with all the shapes, textures, designs and patterns created by these funky fungi.

Hope this inspires you to take a slow walk in the woods sometime soon. You never know what you might discover!
