Bison

Bison

Bison are the iconic creatures of the American west.  Yellowstone is the only place in the United States where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times. Yellowstone bison are exceptional because this population has thousands of individuals allowed to roam relatively freely over the expansive landscape of the Park.  This mixed media collage honors these massive American natives.  It is the December image found in my 2023 wall calendar and brings the story of the yellow stone full circle with the pocket gopher and elk from the January design included in the image.  Although it works as a stand-alone image, each design in this collection was created to tell part of a story of connection by following a yellow stone as it is touched by the flora and fauna of Yellowstone National Park. Each image also includes a Native American word for this animal.
