Bar-Headed Geese

Bar-Headed Geese

This collage is the November image in my 2024 wall calendar focused on migratory birds of the world.  In the summer, Bar-Headed Geese can be found anywhere from Mongolia to the Tibetan plateau. They migrate south to the Indian subcontinent in the autumn and return the following spring.  This requires them to cross the Himalayas on one of the most iconic high-altitude migrations in the world.  These geese have been tracked flying as high as 7,270 meters up, and mountaineers have anecdotally reported seeing them fly over summits around Mount Everest (over 8,000 meters tall).  This collage includes the words “Wonder,” “Trust,” and “Faith.”
